Game to pay attention to: Thunder vs. Lakers Print E-mail
Monday, 04 January 2010
Oklahoma City at Los Angeles Lakers

You know how, in moments involving a crisis of conscience, you'll often hear from a devil on one shoulder, and an angel on the other?

Well, these are the two guys I see. Moving on.

Portland and Dallas could be a better game, and for all intents and purposes the Lakers should sweep the floor with the Thunder at home.

But you can't dismiss Oklahoma City. They gave the defending champs all that they could handle earlier in the season in OKC, and though the Staples Center has been pretty kind to the Lakers this season, you never know. This could be a game, especially if the Thunder can strike it a bit rich offensively.

That's a tough task against the Lakers, who might be the league's most underrated defensive outfit at this point. It's either them or, well, the Thunder. People, these are two of your more prominent defensive firebrands.

Nine games tonight, lots to roll with. Comment away, and I'll see you on the other side.

Los Angeles Lakers: 22-4, 94.6 possessions per game (eighth), 107.8 points scored per 100 possessions (14th), 98.7 points allowed per 100 possessions (first).

Oklahoma City Thunder: 13-13, 91.7 possessions per game (21st), 105.3 points scored per 100 possessions (21st), 104.1 points allowed per 100 possessions (seventh).
