| Coritiba riot gave their grandpa mascot a sad |

As it turns out, the massive riot that followed Coritiba's final game of the Brazilian season, which saw them get relegated for their centenary season, did not completely destroy the club in a storm of rubber bullets and flying chairs. It still exists and now it's trying to clean up its image of having unconscious police officers being dragged off its pitch. This is where the new ad campaign featuring Coritiba's mascot, Grandpa Coxa (representing how Coritiba is the oldest club in Curitiba), and the phrase "Because I love being Coritiba." As you can see in the image above, the campaign takes a somber approach, with Grandpa Coxa facing away from the camera in the darkened, empty stadium...and holding his goofily smiling mascot head. Because nothing says "hey, let's all forget about that horribly violent riot" like a goofily smiling grandpa mascot head. Posted originally: 12/15/2009 |
