Coming into 2009: Goosen had fallen from his lofty perch atop the game to the point that the biggest news he made in 2008 was for alleging that Tiger Woods was faking the severity of his knee injury. So nobody really expected a whole lot out of him. Boy, were they about to be surprised. High-water mark: Goosen kicked off the year with a win at the Africa Open, then followed that with a win at the Transitions in March in one of the best duels of the season that didn't involve major names. He also finished the season with four consecutive top-10 finishes across several tours. The low point: Goosen didn't really have a particularly bad tournament this year, though he missed the cut at a Masters that was playing fairly easy for a lot of guys. He finished with 5 top-10s out of 18 cuts made in 20 tournaments played, so, yeah, a very solid year. Outlook for 2010: We all thought Goosen was cashed, and on a large scale, he may well be, but he's still got enough game to challenge in some of these smaller-scale tournaments. (He also placed second in the RBC Canadian and third in the AT&T Pro Am.) So he'll do just fine in 2010, even if he doesn't throw a scare into any of the big guns.
